Fitbit Versa vs Samsung Galaxy Watch (42mm) vs Garmin Vivoactive 3: Which is Better?
DESIGN:The Versa with the smallest case size is the most compact, yet has the widest display that allows you see slightly more at glance – thanks to its rectangular shape. It also weighs slightly less than the other two and the slimmest which makes it very sleek. Although, the Galaxy Watch with a classic appearance and stainless steel case has the most outstanding design. It also features the iconic physical rotating bezel which makes it very easy to navigate.
Moreover, the Galaxy Watch with super AMOLED powered display offers the most interactive display that’s richer and of higher quality compared to the other two with LCD display. Although, the Versa and Vivoactive 3 music will be easier to read outdoors compared to the Galaxy Watch.
CONNECTIVITY: The Versa lacks inbuilt GPS which is present on the Galaxy watch and Vivoactive 3, this enables outdoor activity tracking for routes, real-time pace and locations, and as such makes these two better choices for tracking outdoor activities unlike the Versa which will have to rely on phone GPS to enable GPS functions. This can be quite inconvenient while on the go, but shouldn’t be a problem if you’re into indoor sports.
CELLULAR CONNECTIVITY: The Galaxy Watch is available in Bluetooth only and LTE edition, the LTE edition enables cellular features that allow you make and receive calls directly from this device. This makes it a standalone and a more comprehensive smartwatch. Although, the Versa is able to accept or reject calls which you can continue via a Bluetooth enabled earbud.
MEDIA:Being a standalone smartwatch, the Galaxy watch is equipped with both microphone and loudspeaker which enable voice assistant via Bixby, and as well allow you play media files anywhere.
ACTIVITY TRACKING:Each of these three is fitness-focused and well equipped to track your daily activities comprehensively. Each of these three will track your steps, sleep, heart rate to help you manage your training intensity, sedentary reminder, calories and VO2 Max.
While the Galaxy Watch features 39+ preloaded sport modes and is able to auto track 6 of those, the Versa features 15+ preloaded sport modes, as well as menstrual cycle logging for women, floors climbed and tracks your blood oxygen level.
On the other hand, the Vivoactive 3 features 15 preloded sport modes, Livetrack that allow you connect and share with other members of the Garmin Connect community as well as incidental fall detection that helps you get the needed assistance when a fall has occurred.
BATTERY LIFE:Although each of these three has got an impressive long battery life, the Vivoactive 3 Music tested to last up to 7 days compared to 2-4 days of the other two has the longest battery life, and as a result will keep you going longer on a single charge.
VERDICT:No doubt each of these three is an outstanding smartwatch with remarkable design, great features, fitness-focused with impressive long battery life. However, the Galaxy Watch with a more sophisticated design and being a more comprehensive smartwatch is my preferred choice.
