Fossil Gen 5 vs Ticwatch Pro 4G: Which is Better?

These two watches represent the very best of Wear OS smartwatches, each of these two has got remarkable aesthetics that’s both stylish and classy. In terms of appearance, I give it to the Gen 5, it’s sleeker and classier.

However, the Pro 4G being a standalone smartwatch is a more comprehensive smartwatch than the Gen 5. It ships with e-SIM powered by Verizon (not so great, its limited to one network for now) which allow you make and answer calls directly from this device. Although, the Gen 5 with microphone and loudspeaker allows you to answer calls, and as well can initiate one via the Bluetooth calling feature. It’s also the first Wear OS to support calling on iPhone.

Moreover, the Ticwatch Pro 4G with dual AMOLED/FSTN display will last longer than the Gen 5 despite featuring battery saver modes. Although, with the FSTN display activated, all Wear OS features are deactivated.

But then the Snapdragon 3100 chip makes a whole lot of difference, it brings better performance and battery saver modes like we pointed out earlier. And the 1GB RAM makes the GEN 5 a faster device than the Pro 4G as far as Wear OS wear is concerned. Add this to the 8GB storage capacity and 3ATM waterproof rating of the Gen 5 makes it a great bargain.

VERDICT: Overall, the 3100 powered Fossil Gen 5 is a better smartwatch than the Ticwatch Pro 4G, unless you’re much interested in the Pro 4G’s standalone capability, and that’s if you’re in the US.
