Samsung Galaxy Watch vs Fossil Gen 5 vs Ticwatch Pro 4G: Which is Better?
DESIGN:The Gen 5 is a slimmer and more compact smartwatch compared to the Galaxy watch and Pro 4G which are quite thick. And this makes the Gen 5 the sleekest out of these three. Although, the Gen 5 is quite heavy just like the Galaxy watch, no thanks to the stainless steel case material, unlike the Pro 4G which is lightweight, thanks to its reinforced glass fiber polyamide case that leaves it with 47g weight.
Moreover, the Galaxy watch features a physical rotating bezel that aids its touchscreen support in addition to the physical buttons which no doubt makes it an easier to navigate smartwatch compared to the Gen 5 and Pro 4G both of which lack this feature.
WATERPROOF RATING: The Galaxy Watch has the highest water resistance rating of 5ATM (water resistance up to 50 meters) compared to the Gen 5 with 3ATM (water resistance up to 30 meters) and even better than the Pro 4G with IP68 rating (waterproof up to 1.5 meters). This makes the Galaxy watch the best choice to wear to the pool or ocean, although the other two devices are also swim-proof.
MEMORY: Although all three watches come with onboard storage capacity that allow you take your favorite tracks with you, the Gen 5 with 8G ROM has the highest storage capacity which allows you take twice more than you would with the other two watches.
Moreover, the Gen 5 powered by the 3100 chip with 1GB RAM has a better performance than the Pro 4G with same 1GB RAM, but powered by the 2100 chip.
CELLULAR CONNECTIVITY: Both the Galaxy Watch and Pro 4G come with e-SIM which supports cellular connectivity, unlike the Gen 5 which lacks cellular connectivity functions. This makes the Galaxy watch and Pro 4G standalone smartwatches which allow you make and receive calls directly from these two.
Although, the cellular features of the Pro 4G is quite limited to Verizon unlike the Galaxy Watch which gives you access to more service providers.
The Gen 5 is able to receive calls with loudspeaker and microphone present, but can’t initiate one.
ACTIVITY TRACKING:Each of these three is fitness-focused and well equipped to track your active life comprehensively. Each of these three will track your heart rate to help you manage your training intensity, track your sleep, distance, steps, calories with inbuilt GPS that enable outdoor activity tracking.
However, the Galaxy Watch with about 39 preloaded sport mode is a more comprehensive fitness tracker compared to the Gen 5 and Pro 4G with less activity tracking features.
BATTERY LIFE:Each of these three has got a quite impressive battery life that should see you through the day. While the Galaxy watch will last just about 2 days or more, the Gen 5 will keep you connected for about a day or more and the Pro 4G is around same timeframe.
However, the Pro 4G with dual AMOLED/FSTN display mode will last up to 30 days. Although with FSTN display activated, all Wear OS features are deactivated. The Gen 5 with the 3100 chip under the hood features battery saver modes which will see it last a little longer.
VERDICT:The Samsung Galaxy Watch with more features and has the most sophisticated design is the best choice, while also being a more comprehensive fitness tracker than the other two watches.
