Fitbit Luxe Standard vs Special Edition – Know the Differences

There is a new fitness tracker from Fitbit, it’s the Fitbit Luxe. It’s a new product with a totally different design and appearance, although it shares a lot in common with Fitbit Charge 4 and Inspire 2. Fitbit Luxe is a compact smartband with a very stylish design. It comes in a stainless steel case paired with interchangeable silicone straps. It is the first Fitbit smartband to be powered by AMOLED which is very rich in colors, while the battery life is expected to last up to 5 days. It’s equipped with a variety of fitness-focused features such as SpO2 measurement, heart rate sensor, sleep tracking, stress management, and many more. It however lacks inbuilt GPS which is a big setback but can still track your outdoor activities via connected phone GPS. In this review, we take a look at the differences between Fitbit Luxe Standard vs Fitbit Luxe Special edition.

Fitbit Luxe at a Glance (source: Fitbit.com)

The Luxe is expected to start shipping later this month, and it comes in two models; standard and special editions. These two models are the same in every aspect except for the very stylish Gorjana bands that come with the Special edition which will cost you about $50 more.

Fitbit Luxe Design

Fitbit Luxe is a compact and lightweight smartband built with fitness enthusiasts in mind. It has a small 0.76-inch display that is powered by AMOLED. This will offer a richer and better viewing experience just like you would with Versa 3 or Sense. This is also one aspect where the Luxe shines over Charge 4.

Fitbit Luxe (source: Fitbit.com)
The case is made of stainless steel which contributes to its stylish appearance. The straps are made of silicone and are interchangeable with any compatible band of your choice. Out of the box, the Luxe comes with both large and small straps. The small strap fits a wrist of 5.5″ – 7.1″ in circumference, while the large straps fit a wrist of 7.1″ – 8.7″ in circumference.

Fitbit Luxe is rated 5ATM just like many Fitbit wearables. This means it’s swim-proof, you can wear it to the swimming pool, but diving with it is not recommended.

Fitbit Luxe (Special edition)

Fitbit Luxe Standard vs Fitbit Luxe Special Edition: The Difference

The only difference between Fitbit Luxe Standard and Special Edition comes in the type of band that comes with the device. While the Standard edition comes with silicone straps (small & large), the Special edition model comes with a soft gold stainless steel Gorjana Parker link bracelet in addition to a Peony classic band (small & large). For this, you will have to pay $50 more for the special edition in additon to the base model price of $150. In addition, while the Standard edition is available in three colors; black band/graphite case, white band/soft-gold case, and orchid band/platinum case, the Special edition is available in one color, soft-gold Gorjana strap/soft-gold case.

Fitbit Luxe Fitness Tracking Features

Moving away from the design, Fitbit Luxe is decently equipped with a handful of sensors which includes a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, and Red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation (SpO2) measurement.

This enables the Luxe to track your steps, daily calories burnt, heart rate, sleep, stress, and blood oxygen. Like I mentioned earlier, there is no inbuilt GPS in the Fitbit Luxe which for me is a very big disappointment. However, you can still track your outdoor activities as long as you carry your phone along. I have never found it convenient to carry my phone along while running outdoor.

There are 20 sport modes to choose from, you can also select about 6 exercises to auto-detect and track with Fitbit SmartTrack. It also features menstrual cycle tracking for women.

Upon checkout, you can choose to optin for Fitbit Premium which offers deeper insights that connect the dots across your activity, heart rate, stress, and sleep so you can make smarter choices about your health.
Fitbit lux battery life

Fitbit Luxe Battery Life

Fitbit states that the Luxe is tested to last up to 5 days. This is great as it allows you to go multiple days from a single charge. It also means that you will most likely need to charge this device every 2 days or more depending on usage.

Managing Text, SMS and App Notifications with Fitbit Luxe

You can also manage text, SMS, and other notifications you receive on your phone with Fitbit Luxe. This can be setup from the Fitbit app. You will also find the “do not disturb mode” and “sleep mode” that allows you to choose when to mute notifications and any other form of distraction. You can’t reply to notifications with the Fitbit Luxe, and it also lacks music control as well as remote camera control. However, there is an alarm and timer app.

Fitbit Luxe Battery Life

Fitbit states that the Luxe can last up to 5 days from a single charge with mixed usage. This isn’t really bad, but its lower than that of Charge 4 which has up to 7 days of battery life. It comes with a charging dock which takes about 1-2 hours to charge to full.

Companion app and Compartibility

The Fitbit app is the companoin for Fitbit Luxe just like it does for other Fitbit tracking devices. The app allows you to setup the Fitbit Luxe and from the app you can manage a whole lot of how the device functions. It is available on both Google Play store and iOS devices. Fitbit Luxe is compartible with both Android and iOS devices. It supports iOS 13.3 or higher and Android 8.0 or higher.

Our Vedict – Which is Better?

There is no significant difference between Fitbit Luxe Standard and Special Edition. Both models offer the same features except that the Spcial edition comes with a premium Gorjana strap that looks feminine in apperance although might also look nice on men. So, its up to you to decide if the Gorjana strap is worth the extra $50 or not.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 vs Fitbit Versa 3 – In-depth Comparison

Featured in today’s comparison chart is Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 vs Fitbit Versa 3 – these are two high-end smartwatches. I have used both smartwatches for over 6 months, and in this review, I’ll be comparing these two head-to-head to help you decide which is right for you. If you’re a fan of Fitbit, you’ll agree with me that the Versa 3 is a really nice smartwatch, so also is the Galaxy Watch 3. What these two have in common include inbuilt GPS, on-wrist calls, loudspeakers, voice assistants, preset sport modes, AMOLED display, and a lot more.

A quick one, the Galaxy Watch 3 is a more sophisticated smartwatch than Versa 3. It has a more durable design, better interface, higher storage and allows you to store your personal music which you can’t do with Versa 3. It also has more fitness tracking features and a better way to manage your notifications compared to Versa 3. The only aspect where Versa 3 is better than Galaxy Watch 3 is that it has longer battery life.

Don’t have time to read through? Watch the in-depth Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 vs Fitbit Versa 3 comparison.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 vs Fitbit Versa 3 – Design Comparison

  1. DESIGN – Galaxy Watch 3 has a better design and a more attractive smartwatch than Versa 3
  2. In terms of design, Galaxy Watch 3 has a better design than Versa 3. I don’t really know what your definition of a nice design is, but going by the material used for both smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 3 has a stainless steel case accompanied by a leather strap, while Versa 3 has a case made of aluminum accompanied by a silicone strap.

You should also note that the Galaxy Watch 3 comes in two sizes; 41mm and 45mm unlike Veras 3 that is only available in one model and size. Versa 3 weighs less than Galaxy Watch 3, it’s also more compact. In other words, it’s more comfortable to wear.

The display of both smartwatches is powered by AMOLED, this is very colorful and easy to read both indoors and outdoors. I didn’t have any problem reading complications on the screen of any of these two. Navigation is also easy with both smartwatches. While Galaxy Watch 3 features two physical buttons, Versa 3 has a haptic button. Touchscreen is also supported on both smartwatches. However, I really find it easy to access the Galaxy Watch 3 compared to Versa 3.

When you talk about watch faces, you get tonnes of options to choose from on the respective apps; Galaxy Wearable app for Galaxy Watch 3 and Fitbit app for Versa 3. Although, I think the watch faces on the Galaxy store looked more realistic than what you get on the Fitbit app.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 vs Fitbit Versa 3 – Bluetooth Calls

  3. ON-WRIST CALLS – Both smartwatches allow you make and receive calls directly from watch
  4. Both smartwatches have a microphone and loudspeaker. So, you can make and receive calls directly from any of these two smartwatches. However, Galaxy Watch 3 is a better smartwatch as far as making and receiving calls with any of these two is concerned. It allows you to sync your phone contacts to the watch which makes it easy to make a call. Meanwhile, the Versa 3 will allow you to receive calls, but you can’t initiate a call from the watch. Although, you can make a call from Vesa 3 with Google Assistant.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 vs Fitbit Versa 3 – Voice Assistant

  5. VOICE ASSISTANT – Versa 3 supports Google Assistant and Alexa which are far better than Bixby on Galaxy Watch 3
  6. Voice assistant is one feature that’s readily available on high-end smartwatches. It makes it easy for you to do simple tasks like starting an exercise or setting up an alarm. In that regard, Versa 3 features both Google Assistant and Alexa which gives you more than enough options to use your voice. Google Assistant is more sophisticated as it allows you to start a call or even check the symptoms of diabetes which I couldn’t do with Alexa.

On the other hand, Bixby did well when you do simple tasks like setting up an alarm, but it was far from Google Assistant and Alexa.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 vs Fitbit Versa 3 – Storage Capacity and Music Storage

  7. MUSIC STORAGE – Galaxy Watch 3 has 8GB storage capacity and allows you to store your personal music which isn’t possible with Versa 3 that has only 4GB storage capacity
  8. Galaxy Watch 3 with 8GB storage capacity has a higher storage capacity than Versa 3 which has only 4GB of storage. You can easily add your personal music to Galaxy Watch 3, but you can’t do that with Versa 3. Versa 3 only allows you to control the Spotify playlist on your phone, you can also download your Deezer playlist and your favorite Pandora stations.

It’s rather unfortunate to see that the Versa 2 allows you to add your personal music but you can’t do that with Versa 3 for now.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 vs Fitbit Versa 3 – Fitness/Activity Tracking Comparison

When you mention a smartwatch, what comes to mind is activity tracking which is at the center of both Galaxy Watch 3 and Versa 3. Both smartwatches feature lots of activity tracking capabilities which include heart rate tracking, sleep tracking, step counting, floor climbing, and more that can help you stay active. However, Galaxy Watch 3 is a more comprehensive fitness smartwatch than Versa 3.

  9. STEPS TRACKING ACCURACY – Galaxy Watch 3 was more consistent than Versa 3
  10. I compared the Versa 3 steps tracking accuracy to Galaxy Watch 3 and Huawei Band 4 Pro, I discovered that the Galaxy Watch 3 was more consistent in counting my steps than Versa 3.

  11. SLEEP TRACKING ACCURACY – Again, Galaxy Watch 3 was more consistent than Versa 3
  12. Both smartwatches will track your sleep in four stages; deep, REM, awake, and light stages of sleep. I wore both Galaxy Watch 3 and Versa 3 alongside Band 4 Pro to sleep several nights, and I found that Band 4 Pro and Galaxy Watch 3 had very close figures compared to Versa 3 which drifted far away.

I also compared these two to Mi Band 5, I also discovered that the Mi Band 5 and Galaxy Watch 3 were close compared to Versa 3 which again drifted far away.

So, I came to the conclusion that Galaxy Watch 3 was a more consistent sleep tracker than Versa 3.

  13. HEART RATE TRACKING ACCURACY – Both smartwatches were consistent in tracking my heart rate
  14. In terms of heart rate tracking, both Galaxy Watch 3 and Versa 3 come with a sensor at the back which enables any of these two to measure your heart rate. I compared the heart rate tracking accuracy of both smartwatches, and I discovered that both were consistent in tracking my heart rate.]

  15. INBUILT GPS ACCURACY – Both smartwatches were accurate in tracking my outdoor activities
  16. One feature I really like in the Versa 3 is the built-in GPS that enables it to track your outdoor activities without having to carry your phone along. So, I also compared these two to the Band 4 Pro which also has an inbuilt GPS. The result I got showed that both Galaxy Watch 3 and Versa 3 were accurate in tracking my pace, routes, distance, max. and min. heart rate.

  17. BLOOD OXYGEN TRACKING – Galaxy Watch 3 tracks your heart rate 24/7 unlike Versa 3 that only monitors blood oxygen when you sleep with the watch
  18. Galaxy Watch 3 features blood oxygen measurement that allows you to readily check how well your blood utilizes oxygen unlike Versa 3 which only measures your blood oxygen when you were it to sleep. The Versa 3 like Fitbit Sense will show your blood oxygen through Fitbit’s signature watch face which can be installed from the Fitbit app.

  19. ECG TRACKING – Galaxy Watch 3 features ECG tracking not present on Versa 3
  20. Galaxy Watch 3 features ECG tracking that allows you to easily measure ECG directly from the watch. This is a vital feature that can help you detect the irregular heart rhythm. (Remember, always consult your doctor before taking any medical action. Smartwatches are for information purposes only)

  21. BLOOD PRESSURE TRACKING – Galaxy Watch 3 features blood pressure monitoring not present on Versa 3
  22. You will also find the blood pressure feature on Galaxy Watch 3. This allows you to measure your blood pressure directly from the watch. But first, you will have to calibrate the watch with a traditional cuff via the Samsung Health Monitor app. (Remember, always consult your doctor before taking any medical action. Smartwatches are for information purposes only)

  23. ON-SCREEN ANIMTAED WORKOUT MODES – Versa 3 features animated workout modes not present on Galaxy Watch 3
  24. Fitbit Versa 3 features onscreen animated workout modes that can coach you through some of your favorite workout moves. This feature isn’t present on Galaxy Watch 3.

  25. PRESET SPORT MODES – Galaxy Watch 3 features 90 preset sport modes compared to 20 on Versa 3
  26. Galaxy Watch 3 features 90 preset workout modes compared to only 20 on Versa 3. This means that you get more workout modes to choose from on Galaxy Watch 3 than on Versa 3.

Managing SMS, Calls and App Notifications

Managing notifications you receive on your phone through a smartwatch is a basic feature you will find on most smartwatches. In this regard, both Galaxy Watch 3 and Versa 3 allow you to easily manage notifications you receive on your phone. Versa 3 allows you to reply to notifications with preset quick replies, your voice, or emojis. However, Galaxy Watch 3 allows you to reply to notifications with your voice, emojis, preset quick replies or you can type the reply directly.

I like that the Galaxy Watch 3 automatically opens a chat window once you receive a message. It also allows you to add as many quick responses as possible unlike Versa 3 that supports a maximum of 5 preset replies.

    Battery Life Comparison

I charged both smartwatches to full, set brightness to the maximum with always-on turned off. The result I got showed the Versa 3 lasted four (4) days+ compared to Galaxy Watch 3 which lasted barely two (2) days. So, Versa 3 has a longer battery life than Galaxy Watch 3.

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Garmin Venu: Design

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Garmin Venu design comparison
Both Versa 3 and Venu have got a lightweight, compact and durable design.

Each of these two smartwatches has got a decent design that is built with durable materials. Aluminum material has been used for the case of Versa 3, while reinforced polymer has been used for the case of Venu, both materials are very lightweight and durable. The strap of both smartwatches is made of silicone that is also lightweight, interchangeable, and compatible with 20mm-wide straps.

In terms of dimension, Versa 3 at 12mm thick is slightly slimmer than Venu which is 12.4cm thick. The shapes are also different which is very noticeable, a square shape Versa 3 vs a circular shape Venu, and with a stainless steel bezel, the Venu has a classic appearance as against the sporty design of Versa 3.

There are lots of watch faces to choose from on the respective platforms; Fitbit app for Versa 3 or Garmin connect store for Venu. Both are rated 5ATM which is equivalent to 50 meters and makes any of these two swim-proof.

So, as far as design is concerned, each of these has got a nice and elegant design. However, Garmin Venu looks more attractive with its circular shape and stainless steel bezel.

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Garmin Venu: Fitness Tracking

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Garmin Venu Fitness tracking comparison
Each of these two is a decent fitness tracker. However, Venu features incidental fall detection and a more robust SpO2 feature that allows you measure blood oxygen 24/7.

Going by the fitness tracking features present in each of these two, both Versa 3 and Venu are well equipped to track a whole lot of activities. Any of these two can track your sleep comprehensively in stages, and as well as your heart rate. There is an inbuilt GPS on both Versa 3 and Venu, this allows you to track outdoor activities.

Other common fitness tracking features include stress measurement, 20 preloaded sport modes, and the ability to count floors climbed. You can log your water intake on both smartwatches, and for women, it allows you to track your menstrual cycle.

Versa 3 through the Fitbit coach app features animated workout modes that coach you through your favorite moves, Venu also features animated workout modes.

The main difference as per fitness tracking is that while each of these two can measure your blood oxygen levels, Venu can measure your blood oxygen level during the day and when you sleep, unlike Versa 3 that only measures your blood oxygen overnight when you wear it to sleep and displays your SpO2 levels through the SpO2 watch faces.

Additionally, Venu features incidental fall detection which allows the watch to call a preset emergency number when it detects a hard fall as long as it’s near the connected phone.

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Garmin Venu: Music Storage and Media Features

You store your favorite tracks and playlist from Spotify on both smartwatches. However, you can’t add personal music to Versa 3

Each of these two comes with a 4GB storage capacity out of which about 2GB is available for use, this allows you to store your favorite tracks on the watch. However, Versa 3 has a limited option as far as music storage is concerned, it only allows you to add your Pandora, Deezer, and Spotify playlists. Meanwhile, Venu allows you to download Spotify, Deezer and you can also sync Amazon music playlists as well as add your personal music tracks.

Versa 3 has both a microphone and loudspeaker – There is a loudspeaker and microphone on Versa 3 which allows you to take calls directly from the watch and as well as play music files aloud. You can start a call on Versa 3 using Google Assistant voice assistant, you can also take calls and talk directly from the watch. Meanwhile, you can only answer calls on Venu which you will have to continue on your phone.

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Garmin Venu: Versa 3 Features Google Assistant and Alexa

Versa 3 has both Alexa and Google Assistant.
Due to the presence of a microphone and loudspeaker on Versa 3, it features Alexa voice assistant and the recently added Google Assistant. You can only use one at a time. With the latest firmware update, you can hear Alexa reply to you, and recently, you can also hear Google Assistant speak.

I noticed that I could use Google Assistant to start a call on my phone which wasn’t possible with Alexa. The Venu lacks a voice Assistant.

Moreover, Versa 3 which has a microphone allows you to reply with your voice as well which I find very useful oftentimes.

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Garmin Venu: Battery Life

You can get up to 5 days battery life with either Versa 3 or Venu

From my experience, having used the Versa 3 for a couple of months now, it lasted up to 5 days on average. Features Comparison

  1. DESIGN
  2. The first difference you spot between these two as far as design is concerned is the difference in appearance. While Versa 3 has a square shape which is custom for Fitbit smartwatches, Vivoactive 4 has a circular shape which leaves it with a classic watch design. Both are sturdily built, but with different materials. Aluminum material has been used for both the case and bezel of Versa 3, while Vivoactive 4 has a case made of reinforced fiber-polymer material paired with a stainless steel bezel which I’d say makes it more attractive than Versa 3. I prefer the two physical buttons on Vivoactive 4 to the haptic touch-sensitive button of Versa 3, both also have touchscreen support which no doubt makes interacting with any of these two easy.

The screen of both smartwatches has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and as well-rated 5ATM – this means 50-meter waterproof rating. So it’s safe to wear any of these two while swimming. The strap for both smartwatches is made of silicone material, both are swappable, so you can always change with a compatible size.

Vivoactive 4 comes in two sizes; 45mm and 40mm, so while the 45mm size is slightly bigger than the 40mm Versa 3, it’s just as compact as the smaller size. Vivoactive 4 is slightly thicker than Versa 3, although not so bulky. Both are also lightweight on average, you shouldn’t have any problem wearing any of these two all day long.

The display technology also differs, while AMOLED powers the 1.58 inches display of Versa 3, its MIP LCD technology for Vivoactive 4’s 1.3/1.2 inches display. AMOLED is richer in color and as such Versa 3 has a more colorful and interactive display than that of Vivoactive 4.

In summary, each of these two has a decent design that’s sturdy, compact, and lightweight.

  3. FITNESS TRACKING
  4. With any of these two smartwatches, you can track a whole of activities offered in slightly different ways. Starting from the basics, both smartwatches will track your steps, calories, help you manage stress, track your sleep in stages, and as well track your heart rate. And with inbuilt GPS in each of these two, you can track your outdoor activities like routes, locations, and other related metrics.

You’ll find a menstrual cycle tracking app on both smartwatches that allow women to log and track period cycle. Each of these two will also allow you to log your water and food intake. Moreover, while there’s the Fitbit Coach which features animated workout modes on Versa 3 that coach you through your favorite sport modes, Garmin also offers animated sport modes on Vivoactive 4.

You get to choose from 20 preset sport modes on both smartwatches, both also can count floors climbed – thanks to the altimeter.

However, I think Vivoactive 4 is a more complete fitness smartwatch than Versa 3, it features blood oxygen tracking that monitors your blood oxygen during the day and when you sleep unlike Versa 3 that only tracks your blood oxygen at night when you sleep and then shows you SpO2 levels through Fitbit’s Signature watch face – its not a complete SpO2 tracking feature.

Moreover, Vivoactive 4 has a safety tracking feature that allows it to automatically send your location to a preset contact during outdoor activity – thanks to its built-in incident detection. Versa 3 lacks safety tracking of any sort.

  5. MEDIA
  6. Both smartwatches come with 4GB storage out of which about 2.5GB is available for storing your favorite tracks. For some reason, I can’t add my personal music to Versa 3 which is possible with Versa 2. I can’t tell if this feature will be available on Versa 3 in the future or not. Meanwhile, you can add your personal music to Vivoactive 4, and it also features Amazon Music, Deezer, and Spotify, while Versa 3 features Deezer, Spotify, and Pandora.

Versa 3 has a microphone and loudspeaker which are not present on Vivoactive 4. This allows you to use Alexa voice assistant to do simple tasks with your voice, and at some point later in the future, Google Assistant will be added.

Both smartwatches will allow you to accept or reject calls which must be continued on your connected smartphone. Although, Versa 3 has a loudspeaker that is supposed to allow you to make and receive calls from the watch, but this feature isn’t available yet on Versa 3.

  7. NOTIFICATIONS
  8. Managing notifications you receive on your phone is a basic function that is available in both smartwatches. Any of these two allows you to reply to notifications you receive (Android only). However, while you can reply with emojis, preset texts, and voice on Versa 3, Vivoactive 4 only supports reply with preset texts.

  9. BATTERY LIFE
  10. Like I mentioned earlier, each of these two has a long battery life that allows you to go long from a single charge. I have averaged about 5 days+ with Versa 3 which is slightly behind Vivoactive 4 which can last up to 7 days+.

My Verdict

Although each of these two has got a decent design, long battery life, lots of fitness tracking, and media features. I go with Versa 3, it’s a more complete smartwatch with a microphone and loudspeaker. Meanwhile, as per fitness tracking, Vivoactive 4 is a more comprehensive fitness smartwatch with longer battery life.

Ticwatch Pro 3 vs Fossil Gen 5 – Which Should You Buy?

Even though Snapdragon 2100 and then 3100 have been a great disservice to the Wear OS family, the release of Snapdragon 4100 is a huge leap further. The 4100 chip which is faster than its predecessor has a 12nm fabrication process which is the same as Exynos 9110 that powers Samsung’s flagship smartwatches. And Ticwatch Pro 3 is the first Wear OS smartwatch to be powered by the 4100 chip. Meanwhile, Fossil Gen 5 which is powered by the 3100 chip is still one of the best Wear OS smartwatches around or perhaps the most popular Wear OS smartwatch – A title Ticwatch Pro 3 already contests. Both smartwatches spot a sturdy and sophisticated build and feature a microphone, a loudspeaker, 8GB and 1GB RAM storage, and inbuilt GPS. Both can track your heart rate, sleep, calories, steps, and more. Which is a better smartwatch? Experts outrightly say Ticwatch Pro 3. Read further as the following comparison chart compares the difference between these two.

Which is Better?

Ticwatch Pro 3 is a better smartwatch than Fossil Gen 5 and there’s no doubt about that. It offers more inhouse fitness tracking features like blood oxygen tracking, hearing protection, and stress management which certainly makes it a better fitness smartwatch. Moreover, with 4100 under the hood, Ticwatch Pro 3 boasts a better performance in GPU and CPU which by extension leaves it with longer battery life.

On the other hand, Fossil Gen 5 is no doubt a decent smartwatch. For one, I prefer it’s stainless steel build and circular design to that of Tiwatch Pro.

So, if you’re looking to buy a Wear OS smartwatch, I think Ticwatch Pro 3 remains the best for now until we see a Fossil smartwatch powered by the 4100 chip.

Which is Right For You?

Both sizes of the Watch SE share the same features in common except for the differences in dimension and display sizes. The right choice for you is based on the size of your wrist, if you have a thin wrist, then the 40mm will make a suitable fit. Although, many still prefer the 44mm which is very compact and allows you to see more at a glance.
